I was honoured in late November 2017 to win a very special award at the annual Personal Finance Society awards, held at The Roundhouse in Camden, North London.
These awards are the premier event of their kind in my profession. So many awards are dished out each year by various bodies, and for most of them, you have to buy a table at the awards ceremony to be considered, and at the very least you have to put yourself forward for them.
The PFS Awards are different. While some are based on submissions, these are to determine awards like Chartered Financial Planner or Paraplanner of the year, where technical excellence has to be assessed. Most, however, are based on the decision of a panel of expert judges.
My award was apparently created for me – I'm still one of a very few people doing what I do – and was suggested by the CEO of the PFS, Mr Keith Richards. To be recognised by my peers for doing what I love is a real privilege and I'm grateful to all at the PFS for making it happen.
If you haven't seen my vlog of the event, check it out here, but below is a pic of me receiving my award from Giles Brandreth, who was a supremely good host.
