Having failed an electronic design degree because I couldn’t do the maths, I went into management for McDonald’s. The job was great fun but the hours were horrendous, and certainly not conducive to leading a healthy (newly) married life.
So I fell into financial services via a friend who worked for the Co-operative Insurance Society. Here I learned the basics of the financial advice profession while trudging the South Wales valleys collecting life assurance premiums. From there I worked for Royal & Sun Alliance in their estate agency advice division, before making the leap to the light side of financial services, becoming an IFA.
Shortly after that, my first daughter was born in 1999 after which my beautiful Cornish wife Joanne felt the call back home. So we moved to Sennen, one mile from Land’s End in the far South West of England, where our second daughter was born in 2003. We now live in Heamoor, just outside Penzance.
I glory in the title of Managing Director of Jacksons Wealth Management, a firm of Chartered Financial Planners with a 90-year heritage in West Cornwall.
I’m involved with lots of things when I’m not working or shooting these videos. This site keeps me very busy so I don’t have loads of spare time, but when I do, you’ll find me pounding the Cornish streets with my Jack Russell, Maisy. I play drums and piano at my local church. I've been known to tread the board in amateur dramatics, and specifically in musical productions. As my girls get older I’m spending more time ferrying them around to Ballet, singing lessons or StageStruck Youth Theatre.
