Special Episode: Meaningful University is GO!

May 15, 2015

MU Launch headerYes, hello, and welcome to this short, special edition of the MM Podcast. The purpose of this is, FINALLY, to announce the launch of MeaningfulUniversity which goes live on Friday 15th May 2015 at 10am. This podcast will be released an hour or two before that, so if you’re really eager you might just have to hang on a short while longer!

What is MU all about?

I set up MeaningfulMoney five years ago now with the intention of educating anyone who came across the site on the basics of personal finance. 295 videos and 110 podcast sessions later, there is over 100 hours of information, all free to access.

The response has been fantastic, and there are now thousands of people consuming that information, and using it change their lives, every week. I count it a singular honour to have been a part of that, and I love to receive the emails, tweets and site comments saying how much you have benefitted from the information there.

For years now, I have been looking for a way to go deeper into certain subjects, and help people in a more hands-on, practical way. There are physical limits in that I’m only one man, but also geographical limits in that I live at the end of the world, or at least the end of the land, near Land’s End in Cornwall.

So I knew I needed to leverage the power of the internet, and that is what I have done with Meaningful University.

How does it work?

Eventually, MeaningfulU will host several courses, but it is going live with just one, Learn How To Budget. When I polled my audience last year, setting and sticking to a monthly budget was the second biggest pain that you said you were dealing with. The biggest was putting together an investment strategy, so I dare say there’ll be a course on that before too long too!

Each course consists of video lessons, and resources to deal with each subject in detail. Students can ask questions which come direct to me, and which, when I answer them, can be seen by all students, so we can learn together.

Also, each course will have a secret Facebook Group, where students can hang out and get to know each other, and share best ideas.

Learn How To Budget

The flagship course is, as I say, Learn How To Budget, and this is split into four weeks worth of lessons, each week being less than 30 minutes. You can of course condense the course into much less time – if you want to blitz it in a single evening, that’s fine!

Week One is all about Getting In The Zone, where we cover the benefits of budgeting, the tools you will need setting up a starter emergency fund to protect against things going too badly wrong.

In Week Two we Set Up For Success, and begin to plan our budget using the same sheet that I use at home each month

In Week Three, the rubber hits the road and we cover in detail the Weekly review. This is essential to staying on track throughout the month, and being able to shift tracks when something unexpected comes your way – and it will

Then in Week Four, I take about overcoming hurdles such as annual bills and fluctuating income.

It really is the distillation of everything I have learned both personally and professionally over the last 18 years. I have learned that for most ordinary mortals, who don’t have trust funds lottery wins or Premiership Footballer incomes, the ONLY way to guarantee future financial success is to spend less than you earn. The Learn How To Budget course shows you how to do that.

What does it cost?

Each course will differ, but all are one-off prices; there’s no monthly commitment. Learn How To Budget costs £67 BUT, as you podcast listeners are special friends, if you use the discount code PODCAST20 at the checkout, you’ll get a £20 discount, making the cost just £47. There are only 50 of these discount codes available, so don’t delay.

As well as the cost being reasonable, I’m offering a 60 day money back guarantee. If you don’t think you have benefited from the course within those 60 days, then just email me for a refund and I’ll send the money back to you, no questions asked.

Will MeaningfulMoney stay the same?

Absolutely. This is the first time I have ever sold anything through the MeaningfulMoney channel, but please don’t worry, I’ll be continuing to produce the podcast every week as usual, plus, now that MeaningfulU has launched, I’m planning much more writing and more videos too!

Check it out

That's it for this special session of the MM podcast, I hope you don’t mind me taking up a few minutes of your time for this little pitch. Please do check out MeaningfulUniversity, and don’t forget, use the discount code PODCAST20 at the checkout to get £20 off the course price.
