Resources to Help You Learn

May 28, 2020 Leave a Comment

New AccumulatorsBefore you go any further with these investing blogs, I want to give you some resources to help you learn more about investing and become confident with managing your money. Plenty of people have piled into their investments far too quickly, without being prepared.

Investing should be kept simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to get your head around. So, you’ll need to commit to learning what you can about it. Here are some course, book and podcast recommendations.

Firstly, in a fit of self-serving, let me point you towards my own course, ‘Learn How to Invest', over at learnhowtoinvest.co.uk. In it I cover everything you need to know to get started with investing in more depth that I can cover on the podcast.

You’ll learn about the different assets and how to lend them together to build a portfolio, and watch over my shoulder as I research funds using free tools on Morningstar. And you’ll learn when and how to review your investments too.

If you decide to sign up, use the coupon code PODCAST25 at signup to get £25 off, which takes the cost down to £150 – great value. Anyone who signs up to LHTI will get grandfathered into the new Meaningful Academy when it goes live in the near future.

Next, read a couple of books. The first is Investing Demystified by Lars Kroijer. I chatted with Lars on the podcast so listen back to that to get a sense of the man and his views on investing, and he really does simplify it for you. Second, if you can find a copy, read Simple Wealth, Inevitable Wealth by Nick Murray.

You’re not done though. You’ll need to commit to continual learning. Podcasts such as mine are a great resource of course. Also, Maven Money and Money to The Masses are great listens and have a real bent towards investing.

Don’t forget, there’s also the MeaningfulMoney Facebook group, where people just like you, at all stages of their financial journey, ask for help, share recommendations and offer advice. I also do live broadcasts and answer questions when I can.
