This podcast is brought to you with the help of Seven Investment Management, who specialise in multi-asset investing, something I talk about a lot, and which I think should form the core of most people’s investments. 7IM have been helping me out here on MeaningfulMoney for ages, and I'm very grateful.
You can see what they’re up to at 7im.co.uk

Thank you for this Pete. Supplies ordered and pencilled in for sorting it out next week. Quick question though – my husband is an ‘envelope’ person. He has boxes of them – we’ve been married 20 years this year so you can guess how bad it is. Should I just crack on and sort out the house stuff, my stuff, kids stuff and leave his in the hope he’ll see it all organised and will buy into it or do I need to try to get him on board first as I know they’ll be quite a bit of his paperwork regarding pensions, work stuff etc that will affect us all in relation to disaster planning? I’m lucky enough to not work so he’s the sole breadwinner but we have joint accounts for income and expenses. He’s the kind of person that glazes over when I mention finances or show him a budgeting spreadsheet. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi Sabs,
You need to try to get him onboard. There is bound to be information in this stuff that you need as a household. Start with sorting your stuff, kids stuff, and maybe he will see that having things sorted makes it easier to find things when needed. If you can get him to listen to a podcast, perhaps our Simplify Your Annual Review podcast would be a good one. You may be able to get him to agree that you sort his stuff out with him, so he gets involved but you get through the bulk of the work.
Good luck.
Nick – Pete’s assistant.
