Five sources of inspiration and motivation

April 8, 2016 Leave a Comment

We all get discouraged in our financial journey, and in life in general. A bad day can knock us for six, and even derail our progress altogether. I know that I need a constant ‘soundtrack' of inspiration and motivation to keep me upbeat and ready to take on the world. In this video I suggest some sources of inspiration you might find useful.

Five sources of inspiration and motivation

As I see it there are five sources of on-demand inspiration and motivation:

1. Books

We live in the age of Amazon, Audible and Google, so there's no shortage of reading matter. Here are two I am currently taking inspiration from:

The #AskGaryVee Book on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1PXe7fB

Tony Robbins, Money: Master The Game on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1ULGDZL

(Those are both Amazon affiliate links, BTW)

2. Podcasts

I love that fact that I can be learning and being inspired on the go, no matter what I'm up to. As a podcaster myself, I know the power of the medium first hand, and I listen to podcasts all the time. Here are three of my current favourites:

The Tim Ferriss Show

The Model Health Show

Smart Passive Income

3. Video

Again, in the era of YouTube, there is so much choice, you can find whatever you need very easily. The first two of these I watch all the time, the last one I am forced to watch by Kate, my 13yo daughter (honest)

Amy Schmittauer, SavvySexySocial

Casey Neistat

Zoella

4. Heroes and Mentors

These are people you look up to and admire. I have some virtual mentors like Gary Vaynerchuk and Michael Hyatt, and some real-life ones too. These are people who run their businesses, personal lives and families in ways I respect and want to learn from.

They inspire me, and whether I get alongside them or watch them from afar, I make sure I surround myself with these people so that I can continually improve.

5. Friends and Family

Is there any greater source of motivation than your family? Any greater cheerleader for everything you're doing than your best friends?

Certainly this is the case for me, and if you look around, it's probably the case for you too.

What about you? From where do you find inspiration and motivation?
